Welcome to the City of Galveston's GIS
Online Maps Server. Here you will find tools to create your own maps.
For example, you can find out where the City's parks are located or the
type of zoning the lot next door to your home or business has. These
applications have been developed by the City's Information Technology
Services Department in coordination with the Planning and Community
Development and Public Works Departments. Citizens and staff now have
easy access to GIS data.
Over the next few months, the City will continue to add new GIS
applications and downloadable data. Please check back often.
What is GIS?
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a
computer system that stores, manages, maps and analyzes geographic
data. Geographic data combines and links graphic representations of
"features", or "events" found on the earth with corresponding tabular
data, which is also called attribute data.
